28.1 | 10 | 99 | 5 | 3.51 | 132 | 15 | 1 | 0 | 0
18.1 to KS Williamson, that has got to be close, and umpire Davis upholds the appeal, spin striking after NZ had got through the first hour, tossed up ball sliding in with the angle, KW pushing well outside the line for the straightening one, caught in front, did not seem to be too much doubt with the line, but he was well forward, and was struck on the back thigh pad as he pressed forward, bounce could have been a factor, in hindsight. 63/2 23.3 to MJ Guptill, Ojha has struck , this man is extremely underrated I tell you, tosses it up again, NZ had to be careful which balls to attack if they were going to be aggressive, Guptill goes after this full one, and ends up mishitting it straight to midwicket, came off the inner part of the bat, probably did not turn. 89/3 51.4 to JEC Franklin, oh dear me, what has Franklin done? he has hit a full toss to midwicket, tossed up delivery, it dipped on leg stump, Franklin leaned to put it away but ended up working it to midwicket's left, where Raina dived and pulled off a sharp catch. 215/5 63.1 to LRPL Taylor, Ojha has got Taylor, after a long imploring appeal, umpire Gould gives it, quite plumb as replays show, went for the sweep to a tossed up fullish one, missed, and was hit in front of middle. 246/6 90.1 to TG Southee, that is plumb, Ojha gets one to straighten appreciably on the stumps, and picks up his fifth wicket, tossed up, good length, pitches middle and leg, and changes direction alarmingly to strike the back pad flap in front of middle and off even as Southee was pressing forward. 365/10
22 | 2 | 83 | 2 | 3.77 | 93 | 10 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
1.5 to BB McCullum, Zaheer Khan strikes, and roars, caught plumb in front is McCullum, good length again, pitching middle, McCullum pushes outside the line for the angle across him, the ball strikes him in front of off and middle, the umpire nods his head immediately. 0/1 85.6 to CFK van Wyk, Raina takes a sharp diving catch at second slip, and Zaheer roars, van Wyk tried another of those dabs that have worked so well for him, but this time he ended up guiding the back of a length ball close to Raina, who went down to his right to snap up the low take, that delivery came in slightly off the pitch, probably why he ended up guiding it closer to Raina. 345/7
16 | 1 | 90 | 1 | 5.62 | 62 | 16 | 1 | 0 | 0 | |
88.2 to JS Patel, another one, Patel does not last too long, he gets another shortish delivery from Umesh, and picks out third man right on the rope with a steer. 353/9
24 | 5 | 82 | 1 | 3.41 | 99 | 9 | 1 | 0 | 0 | |
42.2 to DR Flynn, and he's fallen for the third time this series to the sweep, and to Ashwin, tossed up offbreak. Flynn wants to sweep, misses, the ball straightens on middle and off, and strikes him on the thigh pad, looked like hitting off, credit to Ashwin for flighting the ball. 196/4 |

23.5 | 2 | 90 | 1 | 3.77 | 105 | 13 | 0 | 0 | 2
96.5 to UT Yadav, Boult finally has a wicket, finally, he has deserved many more this innings, swings it in from the changed angle, Umesh cramped up, gets an inside edge onto pad, and the ball flicks the leg bail off. 353/10
24 | 6 | 64 | 7 | 2.66 | 117 | 9 | 1 | 1 | 1 | |
3.4 to G Gambhir, there is no doubt about this one, and Gautam Gambhir's poor run in Tests continues, he was probably set up by those deliveries leaving him with the angle outside off, this one was much straighter, straightened in a touch as well, Gautam shouldered arms again, to his horror, it clipped the off bail. 5/1 9.6 to CA Pujara, and just as I say it, the hook consumes Pujara, he will learn as he goes on to duck the bouncers at Test level, Southee digs it in around chest height, Pujara falling away a bit as he goes for the hook, the ball sails up for some time, before fine leg runs around to settle under it. 27/2 50.3 to SK Raina, you can be strangled down the leg side once, but in consecutive innings? Raina just has, and is walking back in disappointment, Southee angles it down the leg side, Raina tries to tickle it fine, keeper gets in the dive to pouch it, given right away by umpire Gould, off the bat alright. 179/5 83.3 to V Kohli, that has got to be out, that is a shocker of a misjudgment from Virat, padding up to a good length ball angled in, off you go for that indiscretion, had probably got used to that widish line from Southee, who bends it in this time, also came in a bit after pitching, was ending around off stump, Virat's pad was already thrust outside off and he had shouldered his arms, plumb. 301/6 85.5 to MS Dhoni, super stuff from Southee, 50 Test wickets brought up with his fifth strike of the innings, the incoming delivery it is that gets Dhoni, after it got Virat, playing from the crease, trying to work it away, gets an inside edge, but before that the ball has brushed the pad, above the knee roll, looked like hitting leg. 312/7 87.2 to Z Khan, Southee continues to run through India, short ball again, bouncing outside off, Zaheer tries to ride the carry and fend it away, ends up feathering it to the keeper. 320/8 87.6 to PP Ojha, that didn't take too long, did it, the Indian tail is a true tame tail, Ojha caught on the crease, pokes at a short of a length ball and van Wyk snaps up another edge. 320/9
20 | 4 | 91 | 2 | 4.55 | 87 | 18 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
21.4 to V Sehwag, they have the big wicket, Sehwag could not keep the flick down, and Flynn snaps up a sharp catch high to his right, full again, into the pads again, Sehwag met the ball early this time, well in front of the pads, and played the shot much in front of square, and Flynn was waiting there, at a square shortish midwicket, they check for the no-ball, but Bracewell is just about okay. 67/3 23.3 to SR Tendulkar, wow, Bracewell has gone through the gate, he has been attacking the stumps mostly, pitched up, Sachin leaves gap between bat swing and pad, and Bracewell bursts through to strike middle, he was probably looking to hit it towards mid-on. 80/4

73.2 to JS Patel, Patel doesn't look too happy with that and that missed the bat by a mile! No wonder he looked puzzled, it was the late away movement that had everyone excited, Zaheer banged it in short outside off and Patel hung his bat out to fend it off, moved away late and Dhoni and the rest were convinced he edged it, Gould took his time and gave him out. 248/10
15 | 0 | 68 | 2 | 4.53 | 50 | 6 | 0 | 1 | 0 | |
5.3 to MJ Guptill, Umesh roars, Guptill has been bowled off a full toss, brought down the bat at an angle, looking to drive through extra cover from the crease, got an inside edge that crashed into the stumps. 30/1 7.1 to BB McCullum, lovely delivery, and Umesh has removed both openers now, length ball drawing McCullum out, he pokes at it away from the body, the ball holds its line, and carries comfortably to Dhoni, who goes up immediately, so does the cordon, umpire Gould agrees, would have been barely a feather on the ball, can't discern any noise on the replays, Snicko just about registers something as ball passes bat, McCullum didn't look miffed at all at the decision. 31/2
21 | 6 | 49 | 2 | 2.33 | 95 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
28.3 to LRPL Taylor, Ojha has got Taylor again on the sweep, tossed up, he goes across on the knee to sweep, the ball straightens on middle, Taylor misses, and has to go back. 111/4 66.1 to DAJ Bracewell, and another one goes down, Ojha this time, angles it in, Bracewell gets forward, the ball sneaks in and strikes pad in front of middle, umpire Davis gives it immediately. 222/9
22 | 1 | 69 | 5 | 3.13 | 98 | 11 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
17.6 to KS Williamson, Ashwin strikes in his first over, tossed up fullish, turns in a bit, KW pushes forward inside the line, and the edge travels to Sehwag at slip. 69/3 40.5 to DR Flynn, that has been guided straight to Sehwag at first slip, Flynn on the front foot initially as Ashwin tosses it up just outside off, good length, straightens and bounces, he tries to steer it belatedly and finds Sehwag. 140/5 55.4 to CFK van Wyk, Ashwin has got him this time, bending and pushing half-forward, tossed up ball delivered from close to the stumps, sneaks in past bat and hits pad in front of middle and leg, gone. 195/6 61.5 to JEC Franklin, Ashwin gets another one, Franklin has charged out to a flighted ball, had a swing, been beaten by the sharp turn and bounce, and Dhoni has done the rest. 216/7 65.6 to TG Southee, another Test five-for for Ashwin, flights it high and full, Southee goes for a big drive, the ball spins in and strikes the top of middle and leg. 222/8

16.6 to G Gambhir, caught at slip, something had to give, loose shot from Gambhir, lovely delivery from Boult shaping away from the left-hander, Gambhir was attempting a brave dab to third man with the slips cordon packed, tame outside edge to Taylor at first slip. 83/2
18 | 3 | 68 | 1 | 3.77 | 78 | 10 | 0 | 1 | 0 | |
34.4 to SR Tendulkar, timber! Three innings out of three for Tendulkar, Southee brought this one in to the right-hander, the scrambled seam, Tendulkar was playing across the line and the ball clipped his pad and flattened the middle stump, Tendulkar was quite frustrated with himself, he raised his bat at the stumps and then suppressed his anger. 152/3

11.5 to V Sehwag, an anticlimax indeed, Sehwag seemed determined to launch Patel down the ground and out of the attack, danced down the track for the loft, missed it completely and the ball hit the off stump, Patel rewarded for flighting it. 77/1 39.3 to CA Pujara, Flynn pulls off a stunner! Game on here, Patel tossed it up on the off stump, Pujara was forward but didn't cover the line, the ball hit the edge, then lobbed off the pad and Flynn who was fielding at forward short leg had to run backwards, he kept his eyes on the ball, set off from his position quickly and timed his dive to perfection. 158/4 43.1 to SK Raina, rush of blood from Raina and he too perishes! Patel is so much more effective when he tosses it up, Raina like Sehwag was down the track in a flash, he made room as well and the ball landed on middle, held its line and pushed back the middle stump. 166/5 |
