9.35pm Quite a cracking game this has been, a tense chase throughout. India were all but gone when Martin Guptill of all people took two wickets in the 41st over, leaving the last two wickets with 60 to get. Pandya and Yadav then put on 49 runs in quick time to treat us to that great finish. I wonder if New Zealand will go back and re-think those lengths they bowled during that ninth-wicket partnership.

Kane Williamson will probably be Man of the Match but an honourable mention to Trent Boult, who took 2 for 25 in ten overs.

"Very satisfying," says Boult after the game to Star Sports. "It's a good sign to see the bowlers bowling well and putting the Indian batsmen under pressure. I was trying to remain aggressive but give as little as possible in the 49th over ... a lot of moisture out there all together, the wicket was holding up a touch, smart bowling, it proved very effective. Looking forward to Mohali."

Prabodh R.: "Superb game, nail-biting finish, Congrats NZ for 1st win and you deserve it. #wellplayed KW among the runs and that come out to sufficient after a good show by bowlers. Credit must go to Pandya as well for playing a mature innings although he did not make it but showed perfect temperament required for a match finisher. He is young and can go long from here."

Aditya Talesara: "You got to love blackcaps. 100% commitment in the field no matter what. Absolutely deserved win."

Animesh : "Kane Williamson finally reports for duty.. No one else could touch 50. The difference between the two sides."

Rajiv: "Martin Guptill has officially transmogrified into Chris Martin." Great word - transmogrified.

The presentation is about to begin ...

MS Dhoni: I feel this was one game where we lost wickets against the run of play, it was not that the deliveries were good, we just kept losing wickets. Until the end we had the run rate under control ... When you're chasing you need to play 50 overs and at one stage it didn't look like we would. I felt the NZ bowlers bowled really well ... but we just kept losing wickets. I dont think there was a lot of dew, it was not coming out to the bat ... I think we bowled really well, after the new ball it was key to get reverse swing and put pressure on the batsman, Mishy bowled well and got crucial wickets ...

The Man of the Match Kane Williamson: The wicket wasn't easy to increase the scoring rate, at the halfway stage we were a few off where we wanted to be, a lot of credit to the way we bowled, to create pressure on that surface was key and Trent Boult was outstanding. the bowling was huge for us, we were below par but we did have enough runs to create a squeeze, dealing the with dew is never easy .... the dew didn't help the spinners and they did a great job, there wasn't much turn but they did great for us. Seam bowling was easier to face on that surface. It was a good game of cricket, credit to India, they fought all the way ..."

And that's a wrap for tonight. Thank you for all your emails today. We'll see you for the third ODI on Sunday. Cheers.

Southee to Bumrah, OUT

Southee raises his arms in relief almost after delivering the perfect yorker to the No.11, returning the favour to Bumrah. The ball swings into the right-hander and dips under the bat to crash into middle stump, lighting up the bails to give New Zealand their first victory on what has been a tough tour of India. New Zealand level the series with a six-run victory.

Boult to Hardik, OUT

Pandya's fight has ended and silence blankets the Kotla. The short ball brings the wicket. Boult dug that in really short and Pandya met it way outside the crease, trying to slap it down the ground off the front foot and with a flat bat. He was in a really awkward position as he made contact and the top edge flew high in the air towards the fielder on the sweeper boundary. Santner judged the high-pressure catch well

Pandya is playing a blinder here, clubbing another short of a length ball over the head of the fielder at mid-off, he got on the front foot, cleared the front leg to make room and then swung hard

a slower ball wide outside off stump, that is just on the guide line outside off as Pandya lets it go, not a wide
