10.35pm: That's about it from Wellington, where New Zealand have broken their three-match losing streak but England remain in their rut. Gnasher's report should be your next stop, then stick around for more news on the site, including updates from Ben Stokes' court appearance in Bristol. From us, it's cheerio for now. Bye!

10.30pm: Here's New Zealand captain and Man of the Match Kane Williamson: [Important win?] Obviously very important in the context of the series, in some ways a must-win against a very strong England side. We had to play good cricket today. It was important we assessed the wicket, played a lot better than it looked and we got off to a good start. [Personal performance] You always want more runs, you always train hard, that's the focus. There's been occasions recently when you want to contribute but it wasn't be. There were enough partnerships today and the two debutants played nice cameos. [Bowling?] Thought the guys stuck at it really well, Trent was outstanding at the death, but we knew it would be a challenge and the guys stepped up to the mark today."

England captain Jos Buttler: [Performance with the ball?] "Maybe 10-15 too many, that proved to be the difference, the wicket played a lot better and it was a good game. [Guptill and Williamson] They put us under pressure and we tried to find way to break that partnership... We dragged it back pretty well but they got too many. [Good start?] When Hales is in that sort of form he's as good as anyone in the world and Malan impressed again as well. We probably didn't get those cameos lower down, myself coming in and failing and that made a difference. [Need a favour from Australia?] That's what we need now, so we'll wait and see what happens."

10.25pm: New Zealand rose to the occasion at the Cake Tin. A chase of 197 is always going to be tough and, although England gave it a good crack, they were just too leaky with the ball. Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson provided the base and then the two debutants, Mark Chapman and Tim Seifert, ensured there would be no soggy bottom to the innings. They dropped rather too many catches but that aside, it was a pretty good show from New Zealand, who can make the final game against England irrelevant if they beat Australia on Friday.

Boult to Rashid, FOUR runs

pitched up and Rashid swishes an inside edge off his pads... it trickles away but that won't bother the men in black, New Zealand win by 12 runs and give themselves an excellent shot of reaching the tri-series final

Southee to Rashid, OUT

brilliant yorker from Southee, he can only squeeze it out towards the keeper... and then another direct hit runs out Willey! Seifert, the debutant, was alert to the run, scurried up and dove full length to underarm into the poles and catch Willey short trying to steal a single!

Jonas: "How was Boult's wicket of Jordan not a no ball? Nothing behind the line from what I saw." When his boot landed, he was just about okay, I reckon
