8.15pm: Okay, well, that was the game that was. Sid Monga's report should be your next port of call, and we'll be back for more when the Test series kicks off in a couple of weeks. It's a mouthwatering prospect... Now, go and enjoy the sunshine until then. Ta ra!

If you've missed some of the game, you can watch the best moments in our full highlights of the match (India only).

7.55pm: Time for the presentations. Adil Rashid is Man of the Match: "Obviously nice, though the seamers bowled well, then me and Mo got our rewards. Stick to your strengths, Moeen bowled exceptionally well, as well. You work hard in the nets, and you get confidence from there. [Kohli wicket?] He's one of the best in the world, but we're bowling exceptionally well, want to carry it on. Always nice to play well at your home ground in front of a big crowd."

Joe Root is the Player of the Series: "It feels fantastic, to come into a big series like this and to perform how we have is great, testament to the hard work guys do, we set the tone early with the ball, backed it up brilliantly, kept taking wickets and then were ruthless at the end. On the slow side but a pretty good wicket, it was about getting a partnership together, there wasn't scoreboard pressure, kept driving that home and making it as big as possible. [Upturn in form?] Prepare well, make sure you feel as good as possible, put faith in your game and back your ability. Feel like I've contributed last two games, hopefully a start going into the Tests. Done well last couple of years, going into a must-win game, to be able to stand up, I'm really pleased for the guys. [Tests?] Absolutely, it's going to be a great series, we're going to have to play really well."

India captain Virat Kohli: "I thought we were never on the mark as far as runs were concerned, we were 25 runs less, England were clinical with bat, ball and in the field, and deserved to win. Against a side like England you had to be at your best. [Pitch?] Played slow, quite surprising, a little two-paced, we haven't seen pitches like that here before. They suffocated us in the middle overs, the spinners bowled well in partnership. [Too many changes?] Not the batting order, we thought Dinesh was going well, with the bowling we felt Bhuvi has the experience and was good to come back in, but it didn't come off. When it doesn't come off, changes look unnecessary. We need to move on and improve as a side. Every side is looking for the best balance possible, these losses will tell us what we need to work on. We've got 15-16 games to get the balance of the side strong. [Tests?] The squad is pretty settled, excited to be going into a lengthy Test series, going to be challenging but we're looking forward it it. Want to play hard, tough cricket, looking forward to the challenge. [Rashid ball] It was a quality ball, I've been playing him since U-19, he's a quality bowler, just one of those deliveries to take in your stride and say 'Wow, I was done by that'."

England captain Eoin Morgan: "Outstanding, tone set by the bowlers, David Willey and Mark Wood on the money, hit lines an length really well. From that point there was no let up, taking our chances when they arose, we know the conditions here and took advantage of that. Didn't think it would be a belter, normally stands up a bit, but still a good wicket to bat on, probably a 300-320 ground. Chase set up by the openers and then me and Joe managed to get going. Guys make my decisions look good. Like any captain, you're only as good as your team, guys were brilliant today. Off the mark at Trent Bridge, India punished us. [Kuldeep?] A completely different challenge for us, but satisfying that we learnt, went through the process of looking at our plans. [World Cup form] We've got two more tours to go, need to be at our best going into the World Cup, things to look at but we can only put ourselves in that position."

7.45pm: Well, that was a stroll in the dales, wasn't it? Back-to-back hundreds for Joe Root, he goes past Marcus Trescothick's long-standing record of 12 for England in ODIs. A serene partnership of 186 between Root and Eoin Morgan put to bed any thoughts that this could be a tricky chase; India's spinners were wicketless and England have their one-day mojo back. An eighth bilateral series win in a row (excluding the one-off loss to Scotland), and confirmation that they will be a formidable prospect at home in next year's World Cup. A total of 256 was clearly below par, England bowling well up front after winning the toss and then strangling the game with spin - but even then, it was a surprise to see the chase dealt with so insouciantly. There might be questions about India's selection, too, which contributed to a rare ODI series defeat, their first since the Australia tour of 2015-16. Anyway, after six white-ball matches, it's England 3-3 India: which all sets things up rather nicely for the Tests, I reckon.
