Scorecard summary
Sri Lanka Women 188/9(50 overs)
New Zealand Women 189/1(37.4 overs)

Holly Huddleston is the Player of the Match for her five-wicket haul. That brings an end to our coverage of this match. India and England women, meanwhile, are in the midst of a tense contest in Derby. Both teams still in with a chance to pull it off, so switch tabs and follow our live coverage of that game. From here, it's goodbye.

4.28pm Yet another comprehensive win for New Zealand over Sri Lanka. This is hardly surprising. Given New Zealand's might with the bat, 188 was never going to suffice. Sri Lanka have paid the price for squandering a strong platform. Players routinely talk of winning the important moments. Sri Lanka did that for a good while when they batted during the course of that second-wicket partnership of 92 between Chamari Polgampola and Chamari Atapattu. What they couldn't do, however, is maintain that level of performance. You don't bounce back from a collapse of eight wickets for 46 runs too often, that too in a World Cup, which showcases the best of the best. And if it was a second-wicket partnership that formed the bulwark of Sri Lanka's total, it was again a second-wicket stand that formed the crux of New Zealand's chase. Suzie Bates, their captain, put up a fine display of batting to play an integral role in yet another New Zealand win. She found a willing partner in Amy Satterthwaite, and together they have razed Sri Lanka to run down the target in brisk time. Celebrations for New Zealand and questions for Sri Lanka after a one-sided tournament opener in the 2017 Women's World Cup.

Kaushalya to Bates, 2 runs

goes for a wild heave over the leg side, it is short of a length and the ball goes off the top part of the bat and clears the short third man fielder. Not the most glorious shot to finish it off but it's a comprehensive victory for New Zealand
