4.1 to DPMD Jayawardene, the bouncer. That has sconed Jayawardene. Gibson and Dwayne Bravo have enjoyed it too. But they are checking it for a no-ball. What a sharp short ball. Chest high it comes, Jayawardene wants to pull, gets a thick top edge into the helmet, and the ball ricochets to point. The umpire asks Jayawardene to wait. Bravo and Gibson run back in to check on the telly. Roach's foot has landed just a centimetre behind the line and then slipped away. Touch and go, but fine as far as the no-ball is concerned. 19/2
6.2 to LD Chandimal, top of off. Timbah. Beauty. Jaffa. Poor shot, though. Pushes forward to a length ball and drives away from the body. The ball jags back in, beats the inside edge, and goes through the gate to hit the top of off. Looking at the replays. Chandimal's first instinct was to go back, and then he pressed forward. Not full committed. 29/3
34.1 to AD Mathews, and gone first ball. Mathews has taken one risk too many. Mathews backs away a long way, Roach follows him with a length ball. Mathews tries to go over cover/point, but doesn't get enough bat, and is caught at point. 139/5
34.6 to BMAJ Mendis, Roach has four, Mendis doesn't like it. He is moving across, ends up moving too far. Roach bowls short of a length, and on the stumps. Mendis has already got inside the line, and the ball passes over the stumps as he jabs at it. Roach appeals for the catch, umpire Llong upholds the appeal. Mendis suggests he hasn't gloved it. Replays are not clear. He might have missed it here. 147/6

3.6 to WU Tharanga, good catch from li'l Bravo. Charles sighs in relief. Full and wide, Tharanga drives, fails to keep it down, and Bravo lunges to his right to claim this at cover. Holder is pumped. 19/1
39.1 to KMDN Kulasekara, meanwhile Kula is gone. Holder follows the batsman who is backing away, and the little extra bounce means Kula has got too much under the ball and skied it. Bravo runs in from long-on, and to his left, and also calls for it, and avoids the converging fielder from long-off to take a safe catch. 201/7

25.5 to HDRL Thirimanne, and Samuels strikes early again. The quicker one without warning. Thirimanne is looking to work this shortish delivery to leg, but it hurries off, and hits the inside edge and bursts through into the stumps. 93/4
302418.0061001
40.6 to SMSM Senanayake, slower bouncer, Senanayake throws his bat it, gets another edge, and this time Bravo - wearing sunglasses, mind you - has enough time to come under it and catch it. 219/8

5.2 to J Charles, lovely return catch. Charles wants to pull one from just outside off, but he is a little late into the shot, and ends up almost toe-ending it back. The ball is falling at Eranga's toe. If he had been at Wimbledon, this had got too low to be an easy volley, but he takes it off his toes with both hands. Not short enough to be pulled. 29/2
5.6 to MN Samuels, Sri Lanka on fire. Lovely catch again. It's Jayawardene this time. Not a great shot. Short of a length, just outside off, with that extra bounce. Samuels plays a lazy back-foot drive. Had he gone hard, perhaps the edge would have cleared slip, but this one settles with Jayawardene high and to his left at first slip. 29/3
31.6 to LMP Simmons, the crowd has been stunned into silence. Simmons goes for that six but finds deep cover. Gets a half-volley, on off, drives inside-out, wants to clear the cover field but doesn't get enough bat on it. What a crucial strike for SL. The par score now becomes 166. 154/5

4.4 to CH Gayle, Mathews has struck. And it's that short third man that has taken the wicket. Short of a length, just outside off, he punches at it, gets s thick outside edge, and lobs it to the right of that short third man. Taken easily. 25/1
8.2 to DS Smith, given lbw. Not sure if this is a good decision. The ball seamed back in, so that is one criterion fulfilled, but it seemed to be a little too high and a little too straight. Waiting for the replays to prove me wrong. And yes, the replays have proven me wrong. Short of a length, pitches leg, seams back to hold its line, hits him high on the pad, but would have hit the top of the stumps. 31/4
37.2 to DM Bravo, and this is done now. Bravo is frustrated and is teeing up for big hits every ball. Loses his shape as he slogs at this, and ends up slicing this shortish delivery to long-off. SL still in with a shout for a bonus point. 176/8
37.4 to JO Holder, slower ball, on target, and hits top of off. Offcutter from outside off, Holder tries to drive, plays down the wrong line, and is castled. Mathews is chuffed, and why wouldn't he be?. 177/9

32.4 to KA Pollard, gone. What a beauty from Malinga. This is a special delivery. Short of a length, outside off, Pollard pushes at it away from the body, which moves and kicks away and takes the shoulder of the bat through to Sanga. Forget par scores now. 154/6
36.3 to DJG Sammy, short of a length, Sammy still goes for the bog drive, the ball bounces and hits the sticker on the bat, and Malinga ends up skying it. Malinga runs towards midwicke to claim the catch. 172/7
