7.10pm And that is that. Islamabad gain a couple of valuable points in the race for playoff spots. One more game coming up later today - Quetta Gladiators against Peshawar Zalmi. Do stay tuned for that. Until then, ta ta!

A.Malik: "So here it is: If Lahore loses both next matches, Islamabad and Karachi qualify. If Karachi loses its last match, Islamabad will qualify and Lahore will need 1 out of 2 wins to qualify. If Karachi wins last match and Lahore also wins 2 matches, it will come down to run rate between all 3!"

Misbah-ul-Haq: "It's a good win, Asif really finished the game well. The game became a little difficult [when I got out], but the way he hit those couple of boundaries, he really showed his promise. The bowlers bowled really well on this pitch. It has been a good confidence boost for us. [Russell] wasn't getting too many overs, so we thought we will send him in early, maybe he will hit some big shots and gain some confidence."

Shoaib Malik: "There is another opportunity and we are professionals. When you lose, disappointment is there, but you put it behind you and look for another opportunity. We are losing most of our games in the first six overs, whether it is bowling or batting. That is where we need to improve our skills. Hopefully, Lendl will be fit for the next game."

Imran Khalid is the man of the match. "I'd like to thank the captain and team management, who have given me a lot of confidence," he says. "I have experience of bowling with the new ball in domestic cricket, and I'm thankful to Allah for giving me those two early wickets that gave our team a good base for this match."

Jawad: "It looks as if Malik has now so many options in bowling and batting both that he gets confused."

6.55pm An interesting match, but another defeat for Karachi Kings. They just didn't have enough runs on the board to defend. Islamabad move up to six points, and stay in contention for a top-two finish.

6
Mir Hamza to Asif Ali, SIX runs

bish, bash, boom. Short ball angling into off stump, and Asif has finished with a six. Steps across, swivels, and pulls it away, high over the square leg umpire. Superb timing, and a crucial innings to close this game

18.4
Mir Hamza to Asif Ali, no run

bouncer, Asif ducks under it

6
Mir Hamza to Asif Ali, SIX runs

full, angling into off stump, and that's another clean strike, goes deep in his crease with his back leg, clears his front leg, and swivels through his hips to launch over wide long-on

Hamza has been bowling around the wicket all through this over, by the way

18.2
1
Mir Hamza to Mahmood, 1 run

back of a length on middle and leg, clears his front leg and swats it away to deep square leg

18.1
Mir Hamza to Mahmood, no run

short outside off, slapped to backward point

Mir Hamza.

Saqlain: "Any reason Imad Wasim hasn't been given the ball today?" -- Good question. I had forgotten he was on the field!

length ball outside off, leans back while looking to flat-bat through cover, and ends up miscuing it, on the bounce towards long-off

Bopara to Asif Ali, 1 wide

whoops. Another full one that slides down the leg side

17.4

Bopara to Asif Ali, SIX runs

slower ball outside off, and that's a super strike from Asif. Held his shape very well and swung freely through the line and easily cleared the fielder back at long-off

Bopara to Asif Ali, 4 leg byes

full, angling down leg, and Asif can't connect with the flick but the ball clips his back leg and runs away to the fine leg boundary

17.2
W
Bopara to Misbah, OUT

down the track now and Bopara bowls a slower ball wide of off stump. Misbah goes through with the big hit, seems to make a good connection, but he gets more elevation and less distance than desired, and the ball swirls around in the air before dropping down into long-on's hands

Misbah-ul-Haq c Vince b Bopara 38 (38b 5x4 0x6) SR: 100

Sees Misbah shuffling across his stumps, and runs through the crease without delivering the ball. A bit of cat and mouse here.

1w
Bopara to Asif Ali, 1 wide

looks for the yorker, angles it down the leg side

The two main quicks have bowled out their quotas. I don't know if Karachi want to bowl Mir Hamza in this situation. Shakib and Bopara have two overs each remaining. How will Malik go about this? Bopara to bowl this one.

Syed Mohsin: "Too much changes, shuffling, lack of specialist batsmen are hurting KK. After 6 matches they haven't been able to decide roles. If you see Gladiators and Zalmi their combination is superb"
