Match State: Delay - Day 1 - Rain

Good morning all and welcome to this Sunfoil 3-Day Cup match ,the penultimate for the visitors and the last for the host.

This match features Northerns against fierce rivals Gauteng who are playing at the familiar yet unfamiliar Walter Milton Oval.

There could be a lot of head scratching and tough decisions made in the off season in order to improve on the solitary win in the competition so far for the hosts.

They are coming off back to back defeats but a win over a traditional rival will definitely end off the season on a high.

It hasn't been all doom and gloom from them this season as they have dished out some brilliant performances

that have seen them only taste defeat 4 times in 9 games , but having only one win puts an exclamation point on an otherwise, unsuccessful First-Class season.

The likes of Sean Jamison, Nono Pongolo ,Ryan Rickelton and most recently Nandre Burger have earned themselves call ups to the Lions team

and those are some more of the positives the Gauteng team can take from the season.

As for the visitors , their season hasn't gone according to plan either as they seat afoot the pool A log.

They too only have one win in the competition so far and a couple of wins to close out the tournament will see

their season turn and maybe end up, off the bottom of the table.

There are a few familiar faces in the opposition with the likes of Mitchel van Buuren and

Wandile Makwethu recently playing for the Gauteng U-19 team so there will be some healthy rivalry.

The likes of Alfred Mothoa and Migael Pretorius have made their Titans appearances and the Northerns coaching

staff will look at that as some of their positives.

There is quite a bit of rain in the air and that may favour the bowlers on a generally bowler friendly strip.

With rain scheduled for most of the match it will be interesting to see how much play will be posible

over the next three days.

Although this may be regarded as a basement battle , this is also a fixure between the finalists from three years ago so expect

it to be very competetive.

With that said enjoy the coverage of this match and keep in mind , a wise man once said "Cricket is life,

everything else is just detail."

Match State: Stumps - Day 1

Match State: Delay - Day 2 - Wet Outfield

Good morning and welcome to Day 2 of this Sunfoil 3-Day match between Gauteng and Northerns.

After an uncharecteristic Jo'burg day where no play was possible ,the sun is out and

skies are clear and we are ready to get this gane under way.

The outfield though does need some time to dry before we can get the ball roling.

With this effectively the first day of play , both teams will look to get off

to a good start and pin the opposition down.

Toss will be crucial and whoever wins knows they'll have the early advantage.

Whatever the case , stay patient as play will get under way very shortly.
