72 Number of innings taken by Kane Williamson to make ten Test hundreds - equals the least taken by a New Zealand batsman. Martin Crowe had also taken 72 innings. Williamson, though, has taken 40 Tests to Crowe's 43. Williamson becomes the sixth New Zealand batsmen to hit ten or more Test hundreds.
374 Runs scored by Williamson between his dismissals in this innings and the last time he was dismissed in Tests, which was the first innings of his previous match, against Sri Lanka in January this year. In his second innings in that Test, Williamson had scored an unbeaten 242. Williamson has been having an extremely productive period in Tests: his last 15 Tests have produced seven centuries and seven fifties. He has made 1781 runs at an average of 77.43 in these Tests. Before that he had averaged 31.47 from 25 Tests, scoring 1385 runs including three hundreds and eight fifties.
1999 The last time a New Zealand pair made more runs for the third-wicket against England than the 189 added by Williamson and Taylor. This partnership is the third-highest for New Zealand against England for the third wicket. The top two had also come at Lord's. The 210-run stand between Martin Crowe and Bruce Edgar in 1986 at Lord's is New Zealand's highest against England for the third wicket.
67 Extras conceded by England in New Zealand's first innings - the most in an innings by any team in a Test at Lord's and the fifth-highest in any Test innings. England conceded 64 extras against South Africa in 2003 which were the previous-highest conceded at this venue by any team. But the extras leaked by England in this innings are only their second-highest: they had conceded 74 runs against West Indies in Port of Spain in 2009.
1965 The last and the only time before this match each of New Zealand's top-four batsmen made fifty-plus scores in a Test innings. On that occasion, each of New Zealand's top-five batsmen had made fifty-plus scores in a Test in Lahore.
1979 The last time New Zealand made a total at Lord's that was higher than their score of 523 in the first innings: They had declared on a score of 551 for 9 that occasion. This is also the highest first-innings score against England at Lord's since South Africa made 682 for 6 (declared) in 2003.
6 Number of balls off which Williamson played false shots out of the 93 deliveries bowled at him by England fast bowlers on the second day of this match. His batting control percentage was a very healthy 93.5% on day two. Under overcast conditions, with the ball doing a bit more for the England bowlers on day three, Williamson's control percentage was down to 79.8%: he was not in control of 22 of the 109 deliveries he faced from the England pacemen today.
