Abahani easily defeated City Club by six wickets to win the Premier League Twenty20 Trophy at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
The final was something of a damp squib as City Club were bowled out for a meagre 79 and Abahani were never pushed as they paced their chase perfectly, easing home with nine balls to spare.
A disappointingly small crowd had little to reward them. The only real Twenty20-style hitting came from Mahbubul Karim who smashed 20 off seven balls at the top of the Abahani innings, cracking Shafaq Al Zabir for successive four and then a six before holing out to mid-on. Opener Jahurul Islam, on the other hand, played one of the slowest Twenty20 innings, finishing unbeaten on 29.
City Club lost early wickets to Ziaur Rahman and from then on none of their batsmen were able to get a start.
