Abid Nabi, who had picked up 25 wickets in just five first-class games for Jammu and Kashmir, made short work of an inexperienced England U-19 side as India's U-19s took charge of their match in Bangalore. Nabi's spell of 5 for 26 was the highlight as the English collapsed to 112 all out in reply to the Indian total of 334. Manoj Tiwari also picked up 3 for 12 as only Joe Denly (59) was able to offer any resistance during the course of a dour 62-over occupation of the crease.
Nabi's medium-pace and Tiwari's legbreaks were too much to handle as the English side lost their last eight wickets for just 25 runs. Earlier, the Indians had managed their own mini-collapse, adding just a further 23 to their overnight total of 311 for 6, with Andrew Miller and Tom Smith both grabbing a couple of wickets.
By stumps, Faiz Fazal and Ambati Rayudu, the captain, had stretched the lead to 273, with the young English side needing some real heroics to script a turnaround.
