In the third round Shell Cup match between Northern Districts and Canterbury, Mark Bailey's innings of 32 took him past Mark Greatbatch as the player with most runs in the competition without the aid of a century. The leaders on this list are:
Runs Ave 50s
Mark Bailey 1930 26.08 9
Mark Greatbatch 1922 32.03 18
Andrew Jones 1757 30.29 9
Richard Petrie 1715 23.49 9
Grant Bradburn 1685 20.54 4
Robbie Lawson 1542 27.05 11
Greatbatch had 18 fifties without a three figure Shell Cup score, still easily a record.

Grant Bradburn was also in the news when he made his 100th first-class appearance for Northern in the Shell Trophy game against Canterbury at Rangiora. He is just the eighth player from any side to play 100 games for one province. They are:
Mts
120 Evan Gray Wellington
119 Robert Vance Wellington
108 Warren Lees Otago
104 Andy Roberts Northern Districts
103 Paul McEwan Canterbury
102 Erv McSweeney Wellington
101 Rod Latham Canterbury
100 Grant Bradburn Northern Districts
Mike Shrimpton (97 matches) holds the Central Districts record while Ross Morgan (90 games) is Auckland's most capped player. The next centurion appears some way off as amongst other current players the nearest are Jason Wells (72 matches for Wellington) and Mark Douglas (69 for Central Districts).

Finding himself spearheading the New Zealand bowling attack after injuries to Cairns, Nash and Vettori, Shayne O'Connor had taken his tally of Test wickets to 51 by the end of the series against South Africa. This leaves him second only to Richard Collinge amongst left-arm pacemen who have played for New Zealand.
The most successful have been:
Matches Wkts Ave
Richard Collinge 35 116 29.25
Shayne O'Connor 17 52 31.15
Gary Troup 15 39 37.28
Murphy Su'a 13 36 38.25
O'Connor was one of just five players who survived the entire tour starting in Brisbane on August 14. Stephen Fleming, Craig McMillan, Nathan Astle and Daryl Tuffey were the others who were ever-present while Adam Parore was on board from day two after Chris Nevin was injured on the first day in Queensland.

In the first semi-final of the CricInfo Women's World Cup, Australia's Charmaine Mason equalled Catherine Campbell's world record tally of wickets in One-Day Internationals. With both players having at least one more game in the tournament, the list now reads:
Matches Wkts Ave
Catherine Campbell (NZ) 83 76 25.75
Charmaine Mason (A) 40 76 13.46
Lynette Fullston (A) 41 73 13.26
Clare Taylor (E) 72 73 22.06
Cathryn Fitzpatrick (A) 50 69 18.79
Katrina Keenan (NZ) 53 68 17.91
Karen Smithies (E) 69 64 18.65
Zoe Goss (A) 64 63 19.23
Julie Harris (NZ) 45 61 18.42

In the match against Netherlands earlier in the tournament, Campbell returned the remarkable figures of 0-3 from her ten overs. This is not a record however.
Curiously, the all-time most economical bowling in women's One-Day Internationals is held by another member of the current New Zealand team, Nicky Payne, but while she was playing for the Netherlands. The most economical analyses have been:
10-8-2-0 Nicky Payne Netherlands v Sri Lanka Kandy 1997/98
10-7-3-0 Catherine Campbell New Zealand v Netherlands Christchurch 2000/01
11-9-4-0 Raelee Thompson Australia v New Zealand Wellington 1981/82
12-9-4-3 Brigit Legg New Zealand v Netherlands Melbourne 1988/89
12-8-4-4 Bronwyn Calver Australia v West Indies Tunbridge Wells 1993
12-11-4-1 Carol-Ann James West Indies v Denmark Beckenham 1999

Martyn Croy and Warren McSkimming's match-winning tenth wicket stand for Otago at Eden Park equalled the best ever for the last wicket in the Shell Cup. The best last wicket stands in the competition are:
50 Craig Garner & Alistair Alcock Central Districts v Otago Oamaru 1993/94
50 Martyn Croy & Warren McSkimming Otago v Auckland Auckland 2000/01
47 Brendon Lyon & Kerry Walmsley Auckland v Central Districts Auckland 1997/98
43 Roydon Hayes & Richard de Groen Northern Districts v Canterbury Christchurch 1995/96
42 Carl Bulfin & Michael Mason Central Districts v Northern Districts Hamilton 1997/98
