Turning Points

Bangalore v Otago, Group C, Champions League, Bangalore

12-Oct-2009
It was a pitch with plenty of help for the spinners, and the only specialist slow bowler in the Otago side, Nathan McCullum, had to turn in a strong show. It wasn't to be though, as his first over went for 12, and he was so ineffective in the second that his captain decided to not bowl him anymore.
After 19 overs, Bangalore were at a healthy 163 for 2, but their score was taken towards the realm of the unchaseable by Ross Taylor's final over onslaught. He clobbered one four and three sixes to ransack 25 and virtually put Otago out of the match.
After Bangalore piled on 188, Otago's faint hopes of staying alive in the tournament depended on a big effort from their top order. Jacques Kallis snuffed those out by taking their openers, the dangerous Brednon McCullum and Aaron Redmond, in the space of three balls in the fourth over.
