Hanumant Singh, the former Indian batsman involved in various roles since his retirement, is on a dialysis with his liver in critical condition. He was admitted to a Mumbai hospital last week and remains in the Intensive Care Unit.
"He's on dialysis and there's fluid in his lungs... His liver isn't functioning at all... We're praying," a relative told Kolkata's The Telegraph. "The next 24 hours, we reckon, are going to be critical."
Hanumant, 67, whose career spanned more than 20 years, hit a century on Test debut, and scored runs prolifically on the Indian domestic front. Unceremoniously dropped while at the top of his game, he returned to the first-class game and achieved much success before retiring from cricket.
He later served as coach, manager, selection committee chairman, and ICC match referee.
