'I have passion for West Indies cricket' - Roach

Rookie fast bowler Kemar Roach has spoken of the passion he derives from representing West Indies and wants to build on a six-wicket haul at Test level. Led by Roach's 6 for 48 from 23.5 overs gave West Indies the upper hand on day two in Grenada, and the bowler, in just his second Test, was thrilled to be at this stage.

"It was a fine performance, a magical moment for me," said Roach. "I have a passion for West Indies cricket. I wanted to play for West Indies. It was always my dream, and I am glad to have been given this chance, and to be here.

"I think I can live-up to the expectations which people have for me. I think I have a lot more of these performances left in me. I want to prove to people it's not just luck or chance of doing well early, but I want to do it throughout my career, and the only way to prove it is through taking wickets."

Bangladesh were being rehabilitated by their captain Shakib Al Hasan and Raqibul Hasan, but Roach's post-lunch strikes dashed their efforts. First Roach hit Raqibul on the left elbow with a short ball, forcing attention from the physio, and two deliveries later induced an edge with a full delivery. Two overs later Shakib miscued a short ball straight to midwicket to leave Bangladesh 157 for 7.

"I put a lot more effort into my bowling [on Saturday] and bowled a few more short balls because I realised that they were worrying the Bangladeshis. It was more about bowling smart - doing the right things at the right time," said Roach, 21. "We now have a really good chance of winning this Test match and squaring the series, and I am confident that the guys will get the job done."
