India v England in India, 2011-12

Wisden's review of the fourth ODI, India v England in India, 2011-12

15-Apr-2012
At Mumbai (Wankhede Stadium), October 23, 2011 (day/night). India won by six wickets. Toss: England. One-day international debuts: V. R. Aaron; S. C. Meaker
Pausing for breath only when they slipped to 46 for three, India moved into a 4-0 lead much as they pleased. They had 59 balls left when Kohli, again in sumptuous mood, and the inevitable Dhoni completed the romp. Raina, who hit 12 fours from 62 balls, was merciless on anything of good length and fuller, and played the leading hand in a game-clinching fourth-wicket partnership of 131 from 18.5 overs with Kohli. As if to highlight England's frustrations, he left to an earful from Finn, who immediately apologised to Kohli and the incoming Dhoni. England's batsmen had fallen at least 50 short of a competitive total, this time succumbing to a combination of pace and spin after reaching a promising 112 for two in the 22nd over. Varun Aaron, the debutant fast bowler who excited locals by touching 90mph, took the last three wickets, all bowled, but it was the clever off-breaks of Ashwin that had caused trouble up the order. He was helped by a stunning diving catch on the midwicket boundary by substitute fielder Manoj Tiwary to dismiss a strangely skittish Pietersen.
Man of the Match: Suresh Raina
