At Centurion, May 18, 2009 (floodlit). Kolkata Knight Riders won by seven wickets. Toss:
Chennai Super Kings. Chennai Super Kings 188-3 (20 overs) (G. J. Bailey 30, S. K. Raina 52,
M. S. Dhoni 40*); Kolkata Knight Riders 189-3 (20 overs) (B. B. McCullum 81, B. J. Hodge 71*).
Kolkata Knight Riders 2 pts. Man of the Match: B. J. Hodge.
After almost a month of misery, controversy and failed strategies, Kolkata finally managed a
victory, only their second in 13 games. Imperious strokeplay from McCullum kick-started their
successful chase: he collected 11 fours and three sixes from 48 balls before handing the baton to
Hodge, whose 71* came from 44 deliveries. Chennai's total owed much to a useful opening stand of
59 in six overs between Parthiv Patel (25) and George Bailey, then Raina and Dhoni put on 74 for
the third wicket.
