Johnny Dennis, who served as MCC's senior match-day announcer for 18 years, died on Saturday at the age of 76.
Dennis was an actor by trade, with roles in Doctor Who and The Bill among his more prominent credits, but he was best known in cricket circles as the 'Voice of Lord's'.
His career with MCC began during a Lord's Taverners match in the 1970s, when he encountered the Test Match Special commentator Brian Johnston.
He was subsequently introduced to Alan Curtis, who was the full-time Lord's announcer but required a break from his duties to take up a role in a Carry On film.
His rich, warm tones soon became synonymous with Lord's and though he scaled back his announcing commitments in 2014, Dennis remained closely involved with MCC.
In total, his career as Lord's announcer spanned 38 years and 136 Test matches.
