Lancashire County Cricket Club has agreed to re-lay the county wicket at Blackpool Cricket Club, Stanley Park.
Lancashire Head Groundsman Peter Marron will oversee the work, which is scheduled to take place over 4 days at the beginning of September and it will include a complete replacement of the pitch. Marron stated; "The wicket was looking a little tired and it was time to replace it, I'm pleased that we are able to assist Blackpool with this work."
Murray Birnie Lancashire Vice-Chairman said; "I'm delighted that the Committee has agreed to provide this investment at Blackpool CC, it reinforces our commitment to bringing first-class cricket to the rest of the county." He added; "The Lancashire outgrounds are a very important part of county cricket and we will continue to support this to the best of our abilities."
Steven Kennedy, Blackpool CC Secretary commented; "It is fantastic news and I'm very pleased that the County has shown this confidence in Blackpool's facilities and our ability to hold first-class cricket. It's a great bonus and I'm delighted."
