Opener Parvej Ahmed, one of the most unsuccessful batsmen so far in the league, fires a scintillating 102 at BNS against Abahani Club - the team already out of the race. By his brilliance with the bat Victoria Club trounced the renowned Abahani by 4 wickets and firmed up their position in the table.
Chasing the target of 259 Parvej Ahmed batted judiciously, while his first four mates from the top order fell cheaply. Fast medium bowler Iqbal Hossain and former skipper Naimur Rahman mauled the Victoria line-up, removed 4 batsmen with the score on 66. Captain Khaled Masud joined a perky Parvej, who was scoring off quite comfortably from the other end.
Together they put 157 runs in the fifth wicket, steadied the condition confidently, and drove out Abahani's possibilities in the match. Masud made a sparkling mark scoring 78 off 86 balls, with the help of just 3 boundaries. Parvej notched up 102 off 137 balls featured with 8 slashing shots to the rope. Alok Kapali (21), the all rounder, rounded up the situation in the 49th over.
The morning was reserved for Heath Streak, the man from Zimbabwe, who ran two fruitless days at BNS, finally found his luck. The tall all rounder top scored 93 for Abahani, a blasting knock that faced only 72 balls, wonderfully arranged with 4 boundaries and 5 massive sixes.
Opener Moniruzzaman ran up 74 while Naimur Rahman well assisted him with 39. Leggie Alok Kapali managed 2 wickets but his all round performance were shadowed by Parvej Ahmed, the man rightly adjudged for the man-of-the-match.
