Queensland's chances of winning their first limited-overs title in nearly a decade improved with the news Matthew Hayden, Shane Watson, Mitchell Johnson and James Hopes would all play in the final against Victoria at Melbourne on Sunday. Hopes is returning from a thigh strain while the other three will be looking to find form after a disappointing tour of New Zealand.
Ryan Broad, Michael Buchanan, Nathan Reardon and Scott Brant were left out of the 12-man squad that lost the last game against South Australia on Wednesday. Should Queensland win the Ford Ranger Cup, it will be their first one-day championship since 1997-98.
Hayden, Andy Bichel and Jimmy Maher, the captain, are the Bulls' three surviving members from that win. Queensland have lost four finals since that victory while Victoria have not competed for the title since they last won it in 1998-99.
