South Africa v Australia 1921-22

Played at CAPE TOWN, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, November 26, 28, 29

15-Apr-1922
Played at CAPE TOWN, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, November 26, 28, 29. Australia won by ten wickets. The Australians wound up their tour with an easy victory, winning the last Test match by ten wickets. There was never any doubt as to how the game would end, the South Africans being completely outplayed from start to finish. The South Africans were batting nearly all the afternoon on the Saturday for their score of 180, no one being able to play at all a free game. For the Australians, who found run-getting a much easier matter, Ryder took the honours with a splendid innings. He hit thirteen 4's in his 142, and reached his hundred in rather less than two hours, and a half. In the second innings of South Africa Macartney bowled in a style that recalled his form during his first visits to England. It will be noticed that the Australians had to go in a second time to get a single run.
