Scorecard
Anirudh Srikkanth, the son of Krish Srikkanth, the former Indian Test opener and captain, extended his run of rich form, slamming 143 and taking India Under-19 to a four-wicket win against England Under-19 at the Kanchanjungwa Krirangan in Siliguri. With this win India capped of a highly successful five-match series 4-1.
England won the toss and chose to bat first, but could not take full toll. Several batsmen got starts and then failed to press on and make a really big score. Three scores in the 40s helped push their total towards respectability at 228 for 9 from 50 overs. Tom Smith, the left-handed batsman, shone with 42 off 34 balls batting at No. 7.
India were never in serious trouble chasing 229. Srikkanth showed the way from the top of the order with his aggressive batting. Although wickets fell at the other end, he did the bulk of the scoring, racking up a matchwinning 143 off only 113 balls including 18 fours and five sixes. The next best score, 18, came from Mayank Tehlan at No. 6. Srikkanth was dismissed in the 36th over, but by then India had reached 215, and victory soon followed.
