Star player Edwards dropped after run of low scores

England's star batsman Charlotte Edwards has been dropped for the CricInfo Women's World Cup match against Sri Lanka in Christchurch, New Zealand.

The Kent player, 21 next week, has paid the penalty for scores of 5,13 and 0 in three innings as England's batting has failed them time and again.

And yet the tournament had started so brightly for Edwards when she hit an unbeaten 139 in England's first round-robin game, against The Netherlands.
