'We didn't bowl well in partnerships': Collymore

Corey Collymore continued his love-affair with Sabina Park when he helped West Indies claw back into the contest with a fantastic spell at the end of the first day of the second Test at Kingston. Collymore, who ended with 4 for 55, has a fine record on this ground and snapped up his acquired his career-best figures of 7 for 57 against Sri Lanka two years ago.

However, he said that the bowlers could have performed better. "Obviously it was a good wicket for batting, but I don't think we bowled in partnerships well enough and that contributed to Pakistan getting a good total on the first day," Collymore was quoted as saying in Jamaica Observer. "I guess tomorrow we have to come out and put in a big effort again and dislodge Pakistan as soon as possible. Coming from Barbados [I] don't think about playing draw cricket, so we are still trying to win this game."

Speaking on the performance by Younis Khan, who scored a fine hundred, Collymore said: "He is a very good player, he's world rated, but when I am playing cricket I don't look at who is world rated, I just bowl at anyone and try to get him out."

Collymore felt that he was improving as the series progressed, after suffering from a sore shoulder while fielding in the last Test. "I was getting better as the one-day series went on," he said. "I didn't get the start that I wanted, but I put in the hard work and it is starting to pay off."
