The opening match of the five-ODI series between England and Pakistan Under-19s at Shenley was abandoned with England on 61 for 2, still needing another 98 runs in 15 overs.
On a cold, grey day with the ground still very wet from heavy rain over the last 24 overs, play did not get underway until the middle of the afternoon.
In a match shortened to 24 overs a side, Pakistan struggled after being put in until Usman Salahuddin and Ali Asad came together and put on an unbeaten 96 for the fifth wicket.
Chasing 159, England lost two wickets in successive deliveries to Mohammad Aamer, but Billy Godleman and Adam Lyth were building a useful third-wicket stand when bad light and rain returned.
