Andrew Puttick and Jacques Kallis blasted Western Province Boland to 147 and led them to a comfortable victory at Newlands. WPBOL opted to bat under overcast conditions and Graeme Smith kick-started their innings with two fours and a six. His 12-ball cameo opened the doors for Puttick and Kallis. They took the score to 100 off 90 balls before Kallis held out in the covers for a run-a-ball 37. Puttick brought up his second fifty of the series, off just 47, while Rory Kleinveldt bludgeoned 29 off 14 with two fours and two sixes, to take WPBOL to 147 for 3.

With the ball moving around more after the break the Lions found more edges than boundaries and lost two quick wickets. At the halfway stage, after 10 overs, they were four down and only had 52 on the board. Things continued to go downwards as first Smith, with his innocuous offspin, picked up 3 for 23 runs and then Alan Dawson wrapped up the tail with 3 for 20. Having been bowled out for 92, the Lions recorded the lowest total of the series.

Dolphins 153 for 3 (Wingfield 44) beat Eastern Cape Cricket 152 for 7 (Boucher 55*) by 7 wickets

At Kingsmead, Eastern Cape Cricket made a disastrous start after being asked to bat first by the Dolphins. Lance Klusener, with two wickets, and Shaun Pollock kept ECC pinned down to 25 for 3 in seven overs kets. Mfuneko Ngam, playing his first match after moving up the coast from Port Elizabeth, continued the pressure while Tyron Pillay making his debut for the Dolphins, picked up two wickets. Mark Boucher, the ECC captain, together with Pieter Strydom lent some stability as Boucher, with a quick 57 off 51 which included four sixes, lifted ECC to a competitive 152 for 7.

Hashim Amla and Wade Wingfield set the Dolphins up for the win with a 62-run opening partnership coming off 50 balls. Amla was first to go caught on the square boundary off Makhaya Ntini for 32 while Wingfield fell soon after for 44. Only 43 was needed off the last six, Dale Benkenstein and Lance Klusener took them to a comfortable win with four balls to spare. Lance Klusener form has been reminiscent of the 1999 World Cup in England as he is yet to be dismissed after four innings in this tournament.
