Windies pace ace calls for heads to roll

The former West Indies fast bowler Michael Holding is calling for wholesale changes after his team surrendered the Wisden Trophy to England for the first time in 31 years.

Holding is disappointed but not surprised, by the West Indies 3-1 defeat in this season's series.

"There are a few people on this tour who should never get near a West Indies squad again," he said.

"Everybody connected with West Indies cricket has to understand this team are going to be beaten regularly for the next few years."

"Everyone is looking for short-term solutions that just aren't there.

"The only way forward is to build a better team with the right attitude, which is ultimately more important than talent."

Holding also wants the West Indies to emulate England and build a Test squad for the future.

"England are a good example for us to follow,'' he said. ``They were all over the place last summer, when they lost to New Zealand, but they have made good progress under Duncan Fletcher.

"They went to South Africa with an inexperienced team that were never likely to win, but that allowed them to experiment and find a couple of genuine Test players in Michael Vaughan and Craig White."
