Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 2014
Wisden's review of the second ODI, Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 2014
Sri Lanka levelled the series with a fine all-round display. First they turned a promising total into a very good one, as Tissara Perera smashed 65 from 36 balls in partnership with Mathews, who improved his one-day best for the second match in a row, and had already put on 122 with Jayawardene. On the pitch used for the first game - after this one was moved from Colombo's Premadasa because of heavy rain - Pakistan's chase was kick-started by Mohammad Hafeez, who hit six of his first ten balls for four and galloped to a half-century in 28. After 12 overs Pakistan had hurried to 98-1 - but the slow men applied the brakes. Herath and leg-spinner Seekkuge Prasanna took 4-74 in their combined 20 overs. Then, just as Shahid Afridi looked set to get going, Perera removed him, Wahab Riaz and Fawad Alam in seven balls to bring victory.
