Georgia Plimmer was only 20 when she played a crucial hand in helping New Zealand to their first T20 World Cup win in 2024. Called up to the side as an 18-year-old in February 2022 for the ODI World Cup as Lauren Down's replacement, Plimmer made her international debut in August that year at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Plimmer played softball before she went to Tawa College, which has also produced Sophie Devine, Amelia Kerr and Jess Kerr, and was introduced to cricket by the Kerr family during year nine. She went on to make her List A debut for Wellington in the 2019-20 Women's One-Day Competition and her T20 debut in the 2020-21 Women's Super Smash.

She was one of the six new players to be handed a central contract in 2022 and also finished as New Zealand's highest run-getter in the inaugural Under-19 T20 World Cup in 2023. Following her T20I debut, she also made her way into the ODI side and initially played down the order in both formats. Plimmer was pushed up the order to open alongside Suzie Bates in 2024 and found success in the role.

Plimmer cemented her place in the side after her T20 World Cup heroics, where she made 150 runs in six innings. In March 2025, she notched up her first century for New Zealand, scoring 112 against Sri Lanka in an ODI in Nelson.
