Jayaditya Gupta
My decision to join Cricinfo, after spending 17 years in print, and working in a senior position in a highly respected media organisation, evoked much amazement among my friends and colleagues. Moreover, I wasn't even a cricket fan, although as Sports Editor at the Indian Express, I had to look at all sports. Football was my game, I'd covered two World Cups and was set for a few more. But Cricinfo provided a chance to work in a small, focused, high-energy team, which made achieving results much easier. Also, though the print media is still here to stay, I believe the net as a medium is far more exciting and offers greater creative opportunities. Finally, Cricinfo had a reputation as a solid news organisation, with high credibility, and little of the idealistic hypocrisy the mainstream media excels in. My time at Cricinfo has been largely what I expected, with some exciting bonuses.
