Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh have moved up the ICC T20I player rankings after India's 2-1 win over New Zealand in the home series that ended last week. Suryakumar Yadav, despite a quiet series by his standards, continues as the top-ranked batter in the charts.
Gill scored 144 runs in three innings, including an unbeaten 126 in the decider in Ahmedabad, where India scored 234 for 4 before bowling New Zealand out for 66. That gave him a truly remarkable jump in the rankings, of 168 places, as he surged to joint-30th on the batters' table after just six T20Is.
Hardik was the bowling star in that game, returning 4 for 16. He ended the series with five wickets and 66 runs, and that took him within touching distance of the top spot in the rankings for allrounders. He is at No. 2, having crossed Mohammad Nabi, and is just two rating points behind Shakib Al Hasan.
Between them, Hardik and Arshdeep reduced New Zealand to 7 for 4 inside three overs in Ahmedabad, with Arshdeep returning 2 for 16. He has moved up eight spots as a result, and is currently at No. 13 among bowlers. Rashid Khan is at the top of that list.
ODI rankings: Jofra Archer announces himself, again
The big news from the ODI series between South Africa and England, which South Africa won 2-1, was Jofra Archer's stunning comeback. After being out of action for nearly two years, Archer topped the wicket-takers' table for the series with seven wickets, one more than Anrich Nortje and Adil Rashid. That included career-best figures of 6 for 40 in the final game.
Archer moved up 13 spots as a result to get to 22nd place among bowlers - in a list led by Mohammed Siraj - at the end of the series.
It was a big-scoring series, with 271 the lowest team total, and 300 breached three times. Jos Buttler hit 131 in a total of 346 for 7 in the last ODI, which has pushed him up six spots to joint-20th among batters, while Dawid Malan, who scored 118 and shared a 232-run partnership with Buttler for the fourth wicket in that game, rose 31 places to 58th.
Heinrich Klaasen kept South Africa in the chase in that game, and in sight of a series sweep, but his 62-ball 80 wasn't good enough on the day. He did, however, move up 11 places to No. 42 among batters, in a list Babar Azam continued to lead.
