South Zone retained the Vizzy trophy by virtue of their 101-run first innings lead over North Zone in the final of the All India inter-university tournament at the Lal Bahadur stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
North Zone batting first were all out for 351. T Gupta and S Rauf made 134 and 123 respectively. For South Zone, Muthupandian took three for 81 while Rajat Bhatia captured four for 83. In reply, South Zone amassed 452. Badrinath top scored with 137 and other run getters included MR Srinivas (77) and Rajath Bhatia (59). For North Zone, Sangram Singh (3-75) and Aman Rander (3-122) were the main wicket takers.
In the second innings, North Zone were bowled out for 223, about 40 minutes before the scheduled close on the fourth and final day. Deepak Bhatnagar made 51 and Tarun Gupta 31. For South Zone, Muthupandian picked up six for 58.
