The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will appoint a security and anti-corruption manager in an effort to control the game in a transparent manner. The PCB made it clear that it would prefer a retired officer from the intelligence, armed forces or police wings.
Speaking to AFP, Rameez Raja, the PCB's chief executive, said, "The security and anti-corruption manager will liase with the officials of the Anti-corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) of the International Cricket Council as per the requirement."
The ACSU was formed immediately after Hansie Cronje confessed to have accepted money from bookmakers - an affair that rocked the cricket world.
Apart from Cronje, several players from different countries were also implicated, including many Pakistanis. "We have suffered a lot due to the allegations," Raja said, "and this would be an attempt to not subject our players to more inquiries."
