Karachi, March 22: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has awarded the contract to install floodlights at the National Stadium in Karachi to Philips, Pakistan.
The contract was signed last week and the project is expected to start next month. The multi-national company has promised to equip the National Stadium with lights before the arrival of the Englishmen in October.
National Stadium, according to tentative itinerary, will host a Test and one-day international.
The company had also installed floodlights at the Qadhafi Stadium for the 1996 World Cup. The stadium won the award for best floodlight stadium in the world.
Immediately after the installation of lights at the National Stadium, the cricket board will work out the logistics to floodlight the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
According to a PCB proposal, Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar, Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad and Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad will also be equipped with provision for cricket under lights.
