With over 10,000 people attending Saturday's pop concert and in excess of 3,000 at the classical evening, The Rose Bowl appears to have firmly established itself as one of the south's premier concert venues.
The weekend's success was clearly endorsed by all four members of Blue, the award-winning boy-band topping the pop concert, when they pronounced The Rose Bowl as their "best live audience ever". Group member Duncan James went further by proclaiming the Blue 'hoped to be back at The Rose Bowl soon'.
In his role as both host and performer in Sunday evening's classical concert, television personality and presenter, Aled Jones said: "This really is a fantastic venue and the acoustics are wonderful".
Initial concerns about possible noise levels and potential access difficulties proved to be groundless and both the Police and Eastleigh Borough Council's health & safety officer pronounced themselves 'well pleased' with the organisation and the administration.
The Rose Bowl's chairman, Rod Bransgrove, said: "The directors are thrilled at the response that has been generatel by this magnificent weekend of concerts. To achieve such a level of success with two very diverse musical styles is definately a tribute to all those involved in the organisation and administration. I am extremely proud of the professionalism displayed by all of my team making the weekend such a rousing success."
Nick Pike, managing director, added: "We are naturally delighted by the outstanding response to our first live concert weekend. From all the feedback that we've been receiving, it appears that The Rose Bowl is ideally suited for staging such events. It provided a magnificent arena and wonderful backdrop for both the pop and classical music, giving us two very special nights that everyone will remember for a very long time."
Hedge End resident, Mr.John Jewell said: "My wife and I came to the classical concert and without doubt it was one of the best we have ever attended. The setting was superb, the music fantastic and we had a great picnic. What more could you ask for?"
