Jane McGrath, the wife of Glenn, has vowed to keep fighting on after doctors recently found more cancer in her body.
Mrs McGrath was initially diagnosed with breast cancer in 1997 and thought she had beaten the disease. She was diagnosed with secondary cancer in April last year, when her husband flew home on the eve of Australia's Caribbean tour to be with her, then received more bad news in November when a scan revealed "a very microscopic spot".
She and Glenn discuss the latest setback and their seven-year struggle with cancer in a frank interview with Andrew Denton for Enough Rope , to be screened on ABC-TV tonight.
"There's nothing, nothing I won't do, try or be to beat it - nothing at all - so death isn't an option for me," said Mrs McGrath.
Since that interview was conducted several weeks ago, her health has reportedly improved and the cancer has stabilised. "I'm feeling really good," she said.
Glenn described their ongoing struggle as a challenge. "A lot of people have different challenges," he said. "I think to get through something like this ... you've got to be there for each other."
The couple have two children, James and Holly, despite warnings that her chemotherapy treatment could make Mrs McGrath infertile. They wrote a book together in 2000, entitled A Love For Life , and Mrs McGrath is now setting up a website offering young women information and advice on breast cancer. They say the traumatic struggle has made their relationship stronger.
