TPPL taking Cup bets

It is not horses, so it seem odd, but you can bet on any of the World Cup cricket teams at odds ranging from 5-2 to 1,000-1.

Local bookmakers Track Price Plus Limited are taking win bets on the World Cup teams and money can be made, depending on the side you choose and its odds: from 5-2 for 1987 champs Australia to 1,000-1 for rank outsiders Scotland.

If you're not a seasoned gambler and just want to back the favourite, then you can put your cash down on Australia. At 5-2, the Aussies are ahead of South Africa, the second favourites at 11-4.

At 9-2 are Pakistan, just pipping England who are offering 5-1.

Defending champions Sri Lanka and the West Indies, who are likely to get plenty of betting support, are on the next line at 9-1.

Odds (subject to change): Australia 5-2, South Africa 11-4, Pakistan 9-2, England 5-1, West Indies 9-1, Sri Lanka 9-1, India 12-1, New Zealand 20-1, Zimbabwe 80-1, Kenya 200-1, Bangladesh 500-1, Scotland 1,000-1.
