At Nottingham, June 6 (floodlit). India won by 25 runs. India 2 pts. Toss: India. Twenty20
international debuts: Rubel Hossain; P. P. Ojha.
A late flourish from Yuvraj Singh, who collected three sixes in four balls from off-
spinner Naeem Islam, then next over (the 18th) clouted medium-pacer Rubel Hossain for
six, four and four in an arc on the leg side, propelled India to an imposing total. Junaid
Siddique briefly replied in kind, hoisting his first ball, from Irfan Pathan, into the crowd at midwicket and later adding two more sixes, but the introduction of Ojha changed the
complexion of the match. Flighting his left-arm spin at less than 50mph, Ojha induced
Shakib Al Hasan to top-edge a pull with his first delivery in Twenty20 internationals, and
removed Junaid with his fifth. He finished with four wickets as Bangladesh fell short,
despite Naeem's late burst, which included two impressive straight sixes off successive
balls from Ishant Sharma.
