Netta Rheinberg played a crucial role in advancing the cause of women's cricket for more than half a century, first as a player and then as an administrator and writer. She played just the one Test, against Australia on the 1948-49 tour where she was player/manager, making a pair at Adelaide. She subsequently became secretary of the Women's Cricket Association in 1945 and again from 1948 to 1958, and wrote a regular column on women's cricket for The Cricketer. In 2001 she was one of the first 10 women to be made honorary members of the MCC. Schooled at South Hampstead High, she became a secretary in a family business in the City, which stood her in good stead for the WCA position. In her spare time she enjoyed photography and woodcarving.
