0.4 to Mohammad Shahzad, leading edge caught at mid-off Shahzad is staying put, he thinks it might have bounced in front of the fielder. And the umpires think so too, with the soft signal being not out. This was angled into Shahzad and he wanted to flick it away, but a hint of movement meant he got the leading edge. Cameron-Dow at mid-off ran in and went low to grab the ball. But does he have fingers underneath the ball? He certainly appears to have done so. And the third umpire agrees! Shahzad has to go. Six off the first ball, out off the fourth.. 6/1

10 | 1 | 30 | 1 | 3.00 | 42 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 0 | |
11.3 to Javed Ahmadi, bowled him through the gate tossed up outside off and spinning back in sharply, suckered Ahmadi into an ambitious drive. Dipped, gripped and turned in through the big gap to rattle the stumps. Ahmadi couldn't resist going for it but he has to pay the price. 39/2
10 | 1 | 46 | 2 | 4.60 | 36 | 1 | 3 | 2 | 0 | |
14.3 to Rahmat Shah, and he's been done in by the bowler Dockrell keeps it on a length and gets it to grip on the pitch and stop. Rahmat wanted to get on with it, and was shaping to cut, but ends up too early into the shot and can only spoon a dolly to point. End of a laboured innings. 50/3 14.4 to Samiullah Shinwari, gone first ball! Dockrell has been tossing them up outside off and inviting the Afghan batsmen to drive against the turn. Shinwari does that, without moving his feet and only gets a toe-end that pops up straight to cover for a simple catch.. 50/4
10 | 0 | 46 | 1 | 4.60 | 32 | 3 | 1 | 1 | 0 | |
40.4 to Najibullah Zadran, outside edge and that's a brilliant take from the keeper! Length outside off, he rocked back to punch it through the covers, it straightened instead of spinning back in and bounced a little extra taking the outside edge, safely pouched by the keeper. 141/6
9 | 0 | 45 | 1 | 5.00 | 23 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
35.6 to Mohammad Nabi, got him! last ball before the drinks break, Simi kept it back of a length and spinning in. Nabi has been staying beside the ball and punching through the offside, but this time he stays too much inside the line and the ball takes a thick outside edge and nestles into the keeper's gloves. Important wicket for Ireland.. 126/5 |

45.6 to A Balbirnie, quicker one, pitched on off, deviated sharply back in off the surface and through the gap between bat and pad as he remained rooted to the crease. 207/4

47.1 to GH Dockrell, length outside off, too close to the body to flay his hands through that one, drags it back onto the stumps. 215/5

12.6 to WTS Porterfield, through him with a googly and that's the debutant's maiden wicket! length on off, Porterfield lunged forward in hope rather than with any sense of conviction, was beaten by the sharp turn back in to be cleaned up between bat and pad. 57/1 36.2 to Simi Singh, Is that Afghanistan's opening? pitched on middle, googly, not picked by the batsman who was rooted to crease and struck on the pad. Would it have missed off? Doesn't matter as the umpire reckoned it would have hit. 161/3

30.4 to PR Stirling, given lbw and Stirling's not happy The ball was another peach, landed on middle and off and turned away, struck him on the pad. He was going back and trying to defend. But not only would the turn have taken it past the off stump, he was also struck outside the line. Big wicket that, and very unlucky for Ireland and Stirling, who has to go after playing a gem. 138/2 |
