Overview

Gateshead Fell CC was formed in 1878 and they moved to their present ground in the winter of 1880-81. The major change came in 1966 when a fire destroyed the pavilion and dressing rooms, but there were rebuilt in time for the following season.

Durham played a Minor County Championship game there for the first time in 1959, and in 1992 a record 5,500 crowd watched their County Championship tie against Lancashire.
