Lilac Hill - is the home ground for Western Australian 1st grade team - Midland-Guildford - situated in the Perth Suburb of Guildford in the Swan Valley one hours drive north east of the Western Australian capital Perth.

Used as a cricket ground since December 5th 1981 when Midland Guildford played Melville in a 1st grade fixture, Lilac hill has gained a reputation as the premier festival ground in Western Australia. 12000 people set an attendence record during the inaugural festival match at Lilac Hill when the WACA chairman's XI played the touring English XI in 1990.

During the festival matches 78 Marquis seat 2000 people, temporary stands create another 4000 seats and space is avalable for a further 1000 people in the Garden Terraces.

Lilac Hill has a turf pitch which is reputed as a batsmans paradise. The Pavillion was officially opened on November 20 1983. The ends of the ground are known as the "river end" and the "pavillion end." There are no permanent floodlights. The picturesque Swan River wraps itself around the southern and eastern sides of the ground which are shrouded with tall Eucalypts.

The ground is also used for hockey. It is the home ground of the Old Guildfordians Hockey Club.

Guildford is a historic township that has a number of homely Restaurants and Hotels and accomodation in the area is plentiful.

Suburban bus and train services to Guildford are available from the Perth city depot's, plus there is ample parking during festival matches. The ground is a short 5 minute walk from the Guildford station.

Visitors are advised to arrive early for the festival matches which are always well attended with average crowds of 7500 people. (David Bebb)
