Everton Mattis was a middle-order batsman whose chance came when he was picked to play against England in 1980-81. Despite making a duck on debut, he gradually found his touch, finishing the four-Test series with 145 runs at 29.00. His career ended soon after when he joined the rebel West Indies side that toured South Africa in 1982-83 and then 1983-84, for which he was banned for life. He subsequently moved to the USA.
