Satyabrata "Raju" Mukherji was a technically correct right-hand batter who played 50 first-class matches between 1972-73 and 1981-82, primarily for Bengal and East Zone. He captained both, including the East Zone team that played the visiting Pakistanis in Guwahati in 1980. Following his retirement, Mukherji has worn many hats: he has been coach of various Bengal men's teams, a member of the BCCI's Talent Resource Development Wing headed by Dilip Vengsarkar in the early 2000s, and as an early ICC match referee, the only Indian to have been given the job despite having never played international cricket.
