A tall seamer from Wrexham, Roman Walker came through the Welsh ranks to earn a place in England's Under-19 World Cup squad for 2018, though he was limited to a solitary appearance in the tournament itself.

He made his List A debut as an 18-year-old at the start of the 2019 season, and was also given three games at the back end of a disappointing T20 Blast campaign, picking up five expensive wickets in his three appearances.

He joined Leicestershire midway through the 2021 season, initially on loan as a precursor to a permanent deal. After a handful of expensive games in the Blast, he was the unlikely star of a tour match against India, dismissing Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja on his way to a cheap five-wicket haul.

Three Championship appearances followed in 2022, including a memorable debut against Glamorgan in which he showed a glimmer of his allround potential with 64 in his only innings. Unfortunately, that effort was put into context by Sam Northeast's 410 not out, although Walker acquitted himself well in the circumstances, with 1 for 95 in 20 overs.
