Nearly a month after his 16th birthday, Shahzaib Ahmed embarrassed Australia Under-19s with his legspin in the Youth ODI in Sheikhupura, taking 5 for 21 as the visitors folded for 78. He finished with nine wickets in the series, and subsequently, in October 2007, made his first-class debut for Karachi Blues against Quetta. He played for Pakistan in the Under-19 World Cup in Malaysia in 2008, and was picked again for the 2010 edition in New Zealand.
