full ball on middle, and he hits it down the ground, getting it past mid on, and that's fifty for him! And of course - Perth Scorchers cruise to a seven-wicket victory and ensure a home grand final!
Sixers vs Scorchers, Qualifier at Perth, BBL, Jan 28 2023 - Match Result
Scorchers won by 7 wickets (with 9 balls remaining)
Ashton Turner and Bancroft's 132-run partnership is PS's highest for the 4th wicket in T20s, breaking the record of 124 between Marsh and Bancroft
On that note, thank you for your company. Plenty of franchise cricket all around the world today, so we wish you a happy and cricket-filled weekend. See you
Player of the Match Ashton Turner for his 84: "Satisfying to get over the line, especially after last year's final. We can still play the Sixers in the final, you never know, but satisfying that we can stay in Perth for the final. (Bancroft partnership) We know the wicket can be tricky with the new ball. But we have played here long enough to know you still have to be positive, score quickly. We've chased totals well all year. (Consistency) Confidence is a wonderful thing. When you have it, you should cash it. I haven't had to bat a lot with Inglis and Hardie scoring their runs, so confidence can dissipate if you don't bat much. But confident batting in Perth."
7.15pm The Sixers' total of 151 is never quite enough but once Abbott got those three wickets, there was a sense that we would see a great target defense. But that didn't happen as the partnership built by these two pals navigated the Scorchers out of real trouble. Sixers live to fight another day but they will not have Steven Smith in their next fixture.
7.12pm Four-time BBL champions Perth Scorchers are just one game away from adding another trophy to their cabinet. They made the most of the home crowd today, who acted as the 12th man to lift Bancroft and Turner through this partnership. What a recovery, from 22 for 3 to 154 for 3.
The Sixers are not eliminated though. They will meet the winner of Renegades v Heat, and the winner of that fixture will join Scorchers in the grand final.
short ball aimed at Bancroft's head with the batter moving away to the leg side. Cramped for space, swats and misses
good length ball, on middle. Cuts to cover point. Packed infield on the off side
Game is over. Now we're here to just make it official and see if Bancroft can get to fifty as well. Over 41000 people enjoyed the game, seeing their home team deliver a rollercoaster ride.

full on leg, and this time it is Turner who brings out the reverse sweep. Full on leg, and dragged to conventional deep point for four. What an innings this has been
fdull outside off. Cut to the deep
plenty happening here. Bancroft premeditated to play the reverse. Naveed bowls full outside leg and Bancroft gets something on it awkwardly. Did so because the umpire wouldn't have called it a wide had he left it
Brad: "Can't believe how poor the fielding in this game has been" -- Correct, but ironically we've seen some stunning catches too.
fullish just outside off. Gentle cut to deep point
smacked it to deep extra cover for two more
Hashtag Salt on Wound. Half-tracker outside off. Bancroft opens his stance up and flat-bats a shot, hammering it over the bowler's left side.
full and wide outside off. Turner slices the drive and Christian at point dives to his left for a catch. But its a tough chance, with the fielder getting a hand quite low. Nonetheless, on another day this would've been a wicket
mistimed inside-out punch to mid off. Length ball on off this time
full ball on off and middle. Tapped off the back foot to cover with soft hands. They scurry across for one
What a time for Turner to get his highest BBL score ever
What looked like a match-winning spell from Abbott at the top may not prove to be so eventually. That's cricket for you
one more drop, this time at short fine leg. Slower ball, Turner tried to scoop it over short fine but this time he did not have control. Fielder move to his left to take the catch, comfortable height, but he fluffs it!
acres of space there. Short outside off. Turner makes room before trying to slap it over the off side. Slices it well enough to get it behind short third
short-ish on off. Drags a pull to deep midwicket. Slower delivery
could've been lbw on another occasion. Bancroft tried to hit this to deep square leg with a pull but the ball stayed low. Gets something on it as the ball rolls away to short fine
