And again! Game over! Sensational from Weatherald! In the slot again and it goes the journey over deep midwicket
Hurricanes vs Strikers, 33rd Match at Hobart, BBL 2023, Jan 11 2024 - Match Result
Strikers won by 8 wickets (with 25 balls remaining)
Adam Hose and Weatherald's 108-run partnership is AS's highest for the 3rd wicket in T20s, breaking the record of 107 between Alex Carey and Weatherald
Strikers need to win on Sunday against Thunder and hope the Stars or Sixers lose their last two. But they are a chance. And they if they play like that they will be hard to beat. Here is the table as it stands. Thanks for your company tonight. Hope to see you tomorrow for the Sydney Smash. Look out for low flying helicopters carrying David Warner at the SCG. Goodnight.
Jake Weatherald: "It's probably been a couple of years brewing. I've been working so hard on my T20 cricket. Whilst I hadn't taken an opportunity I felt there was something brewing. It was nice to get on a nice wicket, have time to get in and then I was able to play freely. In retrospect, it was probably the best I've batted ever in T20 cricket."
10.10pm Strikers win to keep their finals hopes alive. Chris Lynn out with a hamstring. No Alex Carey. Weatherald comes in having scored 11 runs in three games for the season and smashes 80 not out from 32 to win the game with 25 balls to spare. Stunning batting. As good an innings as you will see in the BBL. He is such a special player when he fires. Hurricanes season is over. Cameron Boyce on Fox: "We have seen hitting like that before. In the nets he's been absolutely flogging them. The boys will be so pleased for Weathers. He's been working really hard and going through a bit of stuff."
Josh: "What has Dooley ever done to Weatherald…… that felt personal !!"
wes r: "ive always felt when jake weatherald is in full flight like this he could easily be a suitable replacement for finch and warner when they retired. only problem he has had is rhythm, plays one good innings and then so many lean ones. i hope this is a turning point for him as he is an amazing person when i met him earlier this year"
Sunitha: "No slogging. All his hits were clean cricketing shots. Looked neat and definitely brutal. Not for a moment he looked in any discomfort at the crease."
another launched into the upper deck at deep midwicket! Full on middle, he stands still and dismissively crushes it way back!

Dooley again
yorker on off, he seeing it so well though that he drops the bat down and opens the face to steer it to deep point
Sam: "True. Weatherald's form for TAS hasn't been great this season. Hopefully this is a turning point for him"
flicked over short fine! Angled down leg, he uses the bottom hand to flick it with ease over short fine!
full on off, he drives inside out to deep point
full outside off, he swings hard and slices it high over cover without great timing
bouncer gone wrong! Sprayed miles down leg and Wade had no chance
slower ball outside off, he gives room and miscues to mid-off
full on middle, he drives very neatly straight of long-on and picks up two
Andy D: "I think Jake probably should've been playing all season lads..." He's an enigma. Can go through very lean spells in between knocks like this
steered through the gap at backward point! Short third and backward point in the ring, wide yorker outside off, he opens the face and steers it through the gap
What a way to bring up 50! Short arm jab over forward square! Picks up the length with just a punched pull shot and it clears the rope! 50 off 25!
half volley, on middle, he drives firmly straight of mid-on, Jordan dives and makes a great save at full stretch
slower ball, yorker outside off, he guides it behind point for a single
short ball at the arm pit, he swivels and pulls to fine leg

Skipper brings himself on
