Yorkshire v Northamptonshire match abandoned without a ball bowled
Yorkshire's bid to complete a hat-trick of Friends Life t20 North Group victories was ruined by bad weather which prevented a ball being bowled in their match against Northamptonshire at Headingley. It was Yorkshire's first blank day of the season in any form of cricket. The rain set in well before the scheduled start and never relented, umpires Neil Bainton and Neil Mallender calling the game off at 3pm.
Having made a poor start to the competition following defeats against Warwickshire and Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire's prospects of an extended run improved when they then beat Worcestershire and Lancashire on consecutive days last week. Their better form meant they were confident of a good result against Northamptonshire, who were propping up the table with just one win from their first four outings.
Yorkshire now have to wait until Friday for their next t20 action when they will be attempting to complete a Roses double over Lancashire at Headingley.
